You made it! I hope you had as much fun as I did. You guys have been so enthusiastic, so willing to try new things and so much fun to work with. It’s been a pleasure. I know your small group presentations went well.

Summarize what you learned about curriculum videoconferencing?
How did you grow or change any of your personal perceptions this week?

1. “Summarize what you learned about curriculum videoconferencing.”
I could go on for many pages about what I learned. Being a technology allows my district to use VC in all curricular areas. My class time could be used to reinforce other classes through VC. In addition, my content requirments could be fulfilled using VC and another content area, for example–Science covers so much with leaves. Science class usually provides the information, and students are then given some time in technology to do simple research. With VC, this could be expanded with other classes (either afar or within the district) to allow a scavenger hunt, mystery quest, or other method to reinforce and expand the project. How awesome it is to be able to do these types of things with any subject area!!!!
2. “How did you grow or change any of your personal perceptions this week?”
One of the things that has come to my mind after speaking with technology people in other districts is how my type of position is changing. VC used to be something that classes did very rarely, if at all. Now, students can have access to the world each and every day. As a tech teacher, my role is changing to more of a facilitator. Students are more and more tech savvy, so I see myself as someone who learns with the students and less as someone who is teaching the technology. It kind of scary!

I learned so much on several levels.
Learning the mechanics of the process was very important for me to feel like vc could be relevant to my teaching day.
I also learned that using this tool to its fullest is tricky. In planning our project I could see that a cool lesson does not always translate into a truly interactive vc.
As i am going through lessons and curriculum I have videoconferencing in the back of my mind..sort of holding it up to each lesson to see how it may fit.
