Day 5: Excited, Uncertain, Determined, Energized, Exhausted… [Lamar CISD]

Whew!  Has it only been a week?!?  We have had so many different experiences together in such a short amount of time that I feel like it has accelerated the quality of our relationships with one another.  Due to this acceleration the range of emotions that everyone is feeling is also varied by extremes.  Once you’ve had time to decompress after you hit that wall of reality in getting things started for another school year, I want you to try to remember a few key points.

1) If you don’t actively plan for what you have learned, nothing will ever come of it.  It is imperative that not only should you think about your actions, but you should also create an action plan as well as follow-up on it.

2) Some people will never understand the power of what you are sharing with them.  Don’t let that discourage you from what you have experienced and now know to be true.  Continue to provide them with opportunities and share your experiences.  Practicing what you preach by modeling your knowledge and beliefs is one of the best ways to encourage others.  Linda also shared a great suggestion in the blog comments about making sure to invite administrators, parents, PTO/Board members, and other community members to share in your activities as well.  Those groups can be strong advocates for what you are trying to demonstrate.

3) YOU ARE NOT ALONE!  We are here to help you FOREVER.  All you need to do is send an e-mail and we will do whatever we can to assist.  We also want to continue to be involved in your journey.  Please let us know when you are doing your small group project or any videoconferencing project.  I would love to come and hang out so I can continue to learn with you.

As we wind things down for the week, please consider the following and comment:

*What did you learn about curriculum videoconferencing?

*How did you grow or change any of your personal perceptions this week?

*What will you tell others about this workshop?

*Is there anything else you would like to share?

  1. Good luck to you! I will reiterate, we are an email away!
Please keep in contact so we can provide the support you need.

Remember, it is all about quality learning for kids!

    • Thank you for joining us this week Linda. We are all better for it!

  2. Since I didn’t know anything about videoconferencing before I started this, I learned so much! I became so much more comfortable using the technology. I am a gadget girl (as well as shoes and hats hehehe), so I am really excited about this. I would recommend this workshop to absolutely anyone who wants to know more about videoconferencing for the classroom. Thank you guys so much!!!!!

    • Thanks for being part of a great group! Looking forward to hearing about your great projects.

    • Laura, I really can envision you making a videoconferencing mark on Danbury ISD. I hope you are able to keep your momentum going forward and can light a spark on what Stacey and Ace started. Please call on Linda and I anytime.

  3. I learned VC is a powerful learning tool that is fun and exciting.
I really didn’t have any perceptions coming into this in-service. A whole new world has been open up to me.
I will tell others everything I learned in this workshop. I love to talk.
I am excited and nervous about doing video conference at school but I am going to do it!

    • so excited to hear about the projects you get going on your campus. Please keep us posted.

    • Jeannine, I believe you have the largest Jazz graduate support group of anyone ever in the history of the workshop. We expect BIG things from George Junior High next year and I also expect an invite to your videoconferencing activities.

  4. *What did you learn about curriculum videoconferencing?
It’s not hard to put together. Some pre-work is involved, but worth it! All grade levels can do it in all content areas!

*How did you grow or change any of your personal perceptions this week?
This is a big tool to have in my teacher tool belt. I learned that VC isn’t hard, but it takes a little prep time. I’m very excited to use this at my campus!

*What will you tell others about this workshop?
Attend! This was a wonderful course that you will get a LOT out of.

*Is there anything else you would like to share?
Thanks for everything facilitators! I appreciate your time and help figuring out VC.

    • Dolores,
You are a treasure! You have such a positive attitude and I see you stuffing your teacher toolbox full and finding room for more! Good luck in 4th grade and please keep in contact and let us know the great things you are doing.

    • Dolores, please invite us to your videoconference connections. I fully expect you to do at least one videoconference activity this year and I’d like to attend if at all possible.
